Criminal Defense and Appeals

Patrick Hurford is a former federal prosecutor and an experienced trial lawyer, who defends individuals against federal criminal charges.  Patrick has significant experience with criminal cases involving bank fraud, wire fraud, mail fraud, healthcare fraud and illegal kickbacks, prescription controlled substance offenses involving physicians and pharmacists, public corruption, tax evasion, and money laundering. 
Where appropriate, Patrick represents individuals in state criminal proceedings and those entangled in criminal investigations.
Patrick enjoys working on criminal appeals at state and federal levels.  Patrick devotes a portion of his practice to pro bono criminal appeals as Of Counsel to Honigman LLP.

Investigations and Pool Counsel

Patrick conducts efficient and meaningful internal investigations for corporate clients through Honigman LLP as Of Counsel. Patrick is often asked to serve as pool counsel due to his experience with the multiple federal and state agencies that investigate crime, as well as the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan and the U.S. Department of Justice.

About Patrick Hurford

Patrick has worked for one of the most prestigious law firms in the world, prosecuted sophisticated white-collar federal crimes and prescription controlled substances offenses as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan, and prosecuted federal healthcare crimes as a Trial Attorney for the United States Department of Justice.  Patrick has tried multiple federal criminal jury trials to verdict and is particularly familiar with the courthouses in the Eastern District of Michigan.

Patrick also has significant civil law experience.  On occasion, Patrick is retained as trial counsel for those rare civil cases that proceed to a jury trial.
